Jamal A. Omar is an EFL teacher. He's been teaching English for 20 years going through different stages of Intermediate School, Preparatory School, Central Teachers' Institute and currently the head of the English department at College of Basic Education/University of Raparin, Ranya.
Philosophy of Teaching
In general, teachers should encourage self-directed learning by which students are engaged in learning actively without regular class teaching. This new learning approach, in its broadest meaning, describes a process in which individuals take the initiative, with or without the help of others, in diagnosing their learning needs, formulating learning goals, identifying human and material resources for learning, choosing and implementing appropriate learning strategies, and evaluating learning outcomes. (Knowles, 1975, p. 18)
