Biography

I was born in Rania. I finished secondary school in Rania. I graduated from the college of Medicine -University of Mosul in 1989. I appointed as Resident Doctor in Erbil Health Directorate from 1989-1991. I was General Practitioner in Rania from1991-1995. I was permanent Doctor in General Surgery from 1996-1998. I worked as General Surgery Practitioner in 1999. I applied for higher education and got Master in Science in General Surgery from University of Sulaimani in 2003. I worked as Specialist General Surgeon in Rania from2003-2005. I travelled to United Kingdom and finished all requirements of getting MRCS certificate from the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh in 2006 .I was consultant General Surgeon in Rania General Hospital until 2008 then, I transferred from Ministry of Health to Ministry of Higher education -University of Koya in 2008 and appointed as Dean of College of Nursing . In 2011 University of Raparin had been founded . I appointed as supervisor of the office of Vice President of Scientific Affairs in University of Raparin from 2011-2014. From 2016 -2022 I was Directorate of Research Center and supervisor of the Department of Civil Engineering .I resigned from these posts in 21-07-2022 and retuned back to the College of Nursing as Faculty teaching staff.

Philosophy of Teaching

My teaching in college of nursing was variable from basic sciences to clinical sciences . I like to teach students in their beginning academic life medical vocabularies and terminologies because I see this is one of the challenges that students facing in the subsequent years. Identifying the roots of the words with the suffixes and prefixes help much students to independently recognize and understand all difficult and unfamiliar words. Being the duration of study in college of Nursing 4 years is another challenge, as the students has very limited background knowledge about health and medical related sciences from biology before admitting to university, and they have to study basic medical sciences including anatomy ,physiology ,biochemistry, pharmacology ,pathophysiology in order to proceed and understand clinical sciences which includes health assessment, medical surgical nursing ,community health nursing ,psychiatric health nursing and maternity and child health nursing .When I teach them health assessment I try to learn them how to take nursing health history and how to demonstrate most signs then to record them. During teaching pathophysiology ,I try to simulate most pathological processes as events in real life for e.g. when discussing inflammation due to invasion of body by pathogenic microorganism , I will simulate the site of injury as the field of battle between the solders (white blood cells) who defend against enemies (Bacteria) .
Its my belief that students should be the center of learning , making nearly all students involved in the discussion as bidirectional way . I look forward to the opportunity of using innovative teaching strategies in the future .
Applying Bologna process in teaching Nursing course will dictate using different techniques of teaching and assessing students from in class presentations ,writing reports , quizzes, daily in class participation.
