Biography

Saman is a Lecturer holding a PhD in the Department of Information System Engineering at Erbil Technical Engineering College from Erbil Polytechnic University in 2023. He earned an MSc (ENG) in Advanced Software Engineering from the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Engineering at the University of Sheffield in 2012. He has been working at Koya University since 2009 and holds a B.Sc. degree in Software Engineering from the University of Koya in 2009.
He began his academic teaching career in 2009 at Koya University as an Assistant Engineer in the Department of Software Engineering. In 2010, he received sponsorship from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research - Kurdistan Region Government - Iraq to study in the UK. He completed his program in Advanced Software Engineering in 2012.
Since 2013, he has been working as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Software Engineering at Koya University.
Since 2020, he has also been working as Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Raparin.
He has taught several courses in the bachelor's degree, including Programming with Java, Compilers, OOP, Data Structures, Information Security, Database Information Systems, Computer Applications & AutoCAD, MATLAB, and Computer Organization. In addition, he has taught courses in the higher diploma degree, including Machine Learning and Data Structures.

Philosophy of Teaching

Computer science, like many other disciplines, was founded on and continues to grow by finding solutions to real problems. Due to the complex nature of computer hardware and programming techniques, solving problems with computers is rarely a simple process. Solutions must be designed and coded with a certain precision. Typically, students must be taught how to engage in this kind of problem solving.Although I have a particular solution in mind, I often let the students drive the progression of a lecture. Rather than tell the students the solution I have in mind, I ask them, “What should we try first?” We try some approach, see how it fares, and proceed based on that feedback.
