Biography
I am Shaki Khdir Mohammed, a lecturer in the Department of Civil Engineering at Raparin University and a researcher at the university’s Research Center – Global Warming Department. I hold a BSc and MSc in Geoinformatics/Geodesy Engineering, with academic and research interests in GIS, remote sensing, and geospatial analysis.
My work focuses on climate change, water resources, land degradation, and sustainable development, where I integrate advanced geospatial modeling, AI-based analysis, and Python programming. I actively lead and collaborate on projects that support data-driven solutions for environmental and urban challenges in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Beyond research, I am committed to capacity-building by training students and professionals in modern geospatial techniques and cloud platforms such as Google Earth Engine and Google Colab.
Philosophy of Teaching
I believe that learning in the university should go beyond memorization and focus on critical thinking, creativity, and real-world application. My philosophy emphasizes student-centered learning, where knowledge is constructed through active participation, collaboration, and reflection. I aim to inspire curiosity, connect theory with practice, and cultivate lifelong learners who can apply their knowledge to solve real societal and environmental challenges.
