On Monday March 6, 2017, on the 26th anniversary of the 5th March uprising, University of Raparin in cooperation with the center of the democratic organizations in Raparin held “Raparin Forum for Confronting Terrorism in Kurdistan” at the hall of activities of University of Raparin.
The Forum is about the greatest event in Kurdish modern history and its consequences for confrontation of terrorism, during the forum (9) different topics from different dimensions and perspectives for challenging terror in Kurdistan region were presented.
The aim of the forum is to show the various dimensions of the uprising for challenging terror in the Kurdistan region. It is worth to be mentioned that in three panels of the forum (9) different subjects were presented by academics, experts and civil activists.

The first spark of 5th march, 1991 Uprising started in Ranya city. Thereafter, the city is called (gate of uprising), all of the Kurdish cities took arms against the dictator regime of Baath and were completely liberated once and for all by Nawroz (21st of March) of the same year. The uprising resulted in the foundation of Kurdistan parliament, formation of Kurdistan regional government and self-governing in the southern Kurdistan in modern history.
