In the presence of his excellency Dr. Aram Mohammed Qadir, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the University of Raparin named Assist. Prof. Dr. Paiman Ramazan Ahmed as its new president, replacing the former president Assist. Prof. Dr. Moufaq Khalid Ibrahim.
On Thursday, 21 July 2022, in the presence of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Deputy Minister, President and members of the Council of University of Raparin, advisors and general directors of the Ministry, in a special ceremony at the University Council, the new president was appointed.
In a speech during the ceremony, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research acknowledged and praised the efforts of the former president of University of Raparin who has played a significant role in developing the higher education sector at the university. He also requested from the University Council to support the new president in order to accomplish the missions and scientific projects.
Additionally, in his talk, Dr. Aram pointed to the importance of gender balance in management, especially in the education sector, higher education, and universities, and he considered this as a momentous achievement for the University of Raparin where a female will serve the university and the region over the next four years.
He also pointed out that University of Raparin is one of the key scientific institutions in the Kurdistan Region like the other Higher Ed. Institutions. He reaffirmed his full support for further the development and promotion of the university. He also hoped that with the inauguration of the new president, it would be open to further evolving in all areas and be able to carry out key academic projects and achievements.
Later in the ceremony, Dr. Abdul Fattah Abdul Razzaq, Deputy Minister, delivered a speech in which he highlighted the growth of the University of Raparin, and praised the former president of the university for his efforts in the past years. He also wished Dr. Paiman success in her new position.
Both the former and the new president pointed out the significance of the university in the area with reasserting their constant support for further developing the university.
