In the presence of UoR's President, Assist. Prof. Dr. Paiman R. Ahmed, university council members as well as a number of lecturers and students of university, on 18 Jan 2023, college of basic education's department of Kindergarten held a symposium about 'The Phenomenon of Suicide and Its Outcomes'.

It started with the deanery speech of college of basic education given by Assist. Prof. Dr. Sakar M. Hasan. She praised the organisers as well as the audience. Then she talked about committing suicide as a global phenomenon, and the causes behind it.
Following that, Assist. Prof. Dr. Rukhsar M. Omer delivered the speech of department of kindergarten's presidency. Later on, Mr Mohammed Sh. Ismail, speaker of Directorate of Raparin Police, presented statistics and data concerning suicide in Raparin area.
The symposium consisted of two panels including the below five seminars:
The first panel was chaird by Assist. L. Himdad Ali, which included these seminars:
1- 'Suicide in Islam' by Mr Abdullah Darwakotri
2- 'Ways to Confront Suicidal Thoughts' by Dr. Rukhsar M. Omer
The second panel was chaird by Assist. L. Arwand Mohammed Amin, which included these seminars:
1- 'Outcomes of Committing Suicide on Individuals and Society' by Assist. Prof. Dr. Bakhtyar K. Talabani
2- 'Social Media and Covering Suicide Cases in Kurdistan Region' by Assist. L. Shanaz M. Sadiq
3- 'Criminal Responsibility of Assisted Suicide Participants Under the Active Rules in Kurdistan Region and Iraq' by Hemn M. Ibrahim
At the end, the symposium organisers and the researchers were awarded certificates of participation.
