In commemoration of the tragedy and the uprising of April 24th and the university martyrdom day of Qaladize city, in the presence of the UoR president, Asst. Prof. Dr. Paiman R. Ahmed, vice-president for higher education and scientific affairs, Asst. Prof. Dr. Hazhar Q. Ibrahim, along with a number of university lecturers, council members and students, as well as a number of other attendants, the UoR held a symposium under the title of ‘Qaladize Between the Uprising and the Tragedy’, on 30-Apr-2023.
At the beginning, the audience stood a moment in silence, paying tribute to the soul of the Kurdistan freedom martyrs. Then the UoR president, Asst. Prof. Dr. Paiman R. Ahmed, delivered her speech during which she insisted that the UoR, as an academic foundation in the area, should have a great role in working on the next generations to become familiar with the local and national events and memories. Following that, the chairperson of the event, Asst. Prof. Dr. Hawraz Q. Hama, the dean of college of education, gave his speech.
The symposium was divided into two panels, the first one was chaired by Dr. Saman. M. Othman, and the second one by Asst. Prof. Hamza H. Hama, during which the following seminars were presented:
1- ‘Legal Dimensions of April 24th Tragedy of Qaladize’ by Dr. Rebaz R. Khidr
2- ‘The Political Dimension of Qaladize’s Population Growth’ by Asst. Prof. Dr. Fatima Q. Mustafa
3- ‘The April 24th Tragedy in the Literature of South Kurdistan’ by Asst. Lect. Mustafa S. Mina
4- ‘Literal Status of Pishder and Its Effects on the People’s Political Awareness 1975-1989’ by Asst. Lect. Mohammed A. Rasul
5- ‘A Memory of the Events of the April 24th ‘by Prof. Dr. Mohammed Diler along with Prof Dr. Mohammed T. Karim
At the end, the symposium participants and the researchers were awarded certificates of participation and the event came to an end with audiences’ comments and recommendations on the topic.
